Ki-chul is a supporting antagonist in Train to Busan. He is portrayed by Jang Hyuk-jin.
History[]
Ki-chul is a Korean train attendant servicing the train where the setting of the movie is. Before the train departs, he tells his fellow train attendant Hye-yeong to fix her headscarf before heading for a train car. Ki-chul became the last living train attendant on the train after the zombie outbreak occurs.
At Daejeon station, he shows the zombified passengers to the conductor who did not understand what was going on. He also meets Yong-suk, a wealthy businessman who offers to detach the locomotive, but the conductor tells him that it is impossible. Ki-chul first follows the latter to pick up the passengers who have left, but returns to the train to bring them back there after realizing the army that was suppose to protect them are infected. Yong-suk yells at him to leave but Ki-chul pushes him aside saying that there are still people to bring up. With Jin-hee, he brings Jong-gil back on the train and closes the door. Yong-suk forces him to leave, which Ki-chul does by ordering the conductor.
Later, when Jin-hee informs him that his friend Yong-guk is going to join her, Ki-chul does nothing to help her. On the contrary, he prevents her from calling the teen from her cell phone and Yong-suk breaks the device. Jin-hee breaks his grip by biting him to rescue Yong-guk and his friends from the other side of the car. The group enters but Yong-suk wants them to leave, believing them to be contaminated. Ki-chul then orders them to go to the front vestibule, which they do under the boos of the passengers. He observes the latter blocking the vestibule door but they are attacked by the zombies when Jong-gil avenges her infected sister by opening the other door. In an unknown way, Ki-chul and Yong-suk managed to escape and hide in the toilet. They then hear the conductor announce that he will change locomotive due to a blockage on the current track. Yong-suk then lets Ki-chul out first but pushes him onto the zombies who infect him while Yong-suk leaves the train.
