History[]
Jin-hee is a Korean schoolgirl at Sin Yeon High School who boards the train where the zombie infection takes place with the high school baseball team. She was born in the city of Dangjin, South Korea on August 18, 1999.
A few minutes before the train heading to Busan leaves Seoul, Jin-hee boards the train with the baseball team of her high school, calling herself their "cheerleader". She decides to sit next to a baseball player named Yong-guk, which greatly annoys him. When the zombie outbreak occurs on the train, Jin-hee witnesses most of the students on the baseball team get attacked and zombified, soon attacking even more passengers on the train. The attacks zombify more and more people in a domino effect, and only Jin-hee and few other baseball players, including Yong-guk, survive the initial outbreak by fleeing to another train car.
When they reach the train station in Daejeon where soldiers are stationed to stop the zombies, she gets off the train with other remaining survivors. However, as soon as they start to decend the stairs leading to the exit, they discover that the soldiers guarding the station have been overwhelmed and zombified. The zombified soldiers begin to attack the survivors and infect many of them. Jin-hee survives this attack along with a few others, and she also saves an old lady named Jong-gil in the chaos. They decide to reroute back to Busan which is currently reported as a zombie-free location. Jin-hee gets a call from Yong-guk, who says he survived the attack as well and he will try to come to the train car that everyone else is in. Upon hearing his voice, Jin-hee starts crying, and then tells everyone else about the couple of other survivors who might join them in their train car. However, a rich and selfish businessman, Yong-suk, intervenes. He refuses to let the extra survivors get into the train car, believing them to be infected. Yong-suk forces some people on the train car to block the entrance to the car. When the extra survivors reach the train car, these people try to hold the door closed and prevent the others from entering. Jin-hee is restrained by Ki-chul at the orders of Young-suk and she struggles to break free. The extra surviving people eventually force their way into the train car and Jin-hee reunites with Yong-guk. However, the passengers rejected Young-guk and those that entered the train car thinking they are infected. Jin-hee goes where Young-guk goes into the other car. Meanwhile, Jong-gil, who is deeply affected by the death of her sister, opens the car door and lets the zombies into the carriage. Then they are informed that the railroad has been blocked, and they try to pass it. Yong-guk and Jin-hee run onto another train, and Jin-hee watches as Yong-guk struggles to open the train door. Suddenly, Yong-suk runs onboard and pushes Jin-hee to the zombies, and a zombie bites her leg. A grieved Yong-guk is reluctant to leave Jin-hee, so he stays with her, allowing her zombified body to bite him and make him become a zombie too.
